Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
The CDBS is a government initiative set up to ensure all children can access basic dental services. With this initiative eligible children are entitled to receive $1000 of dental treatment over two calendar years, the two-year period will begin from the first treatment.
With the CDBS treating physicians are able to charge a gap on treatment or can bulk bill treatment, at Dental Options we offer the CDBS bulk billed!!!
WHAT SERVICES ARE COVERED WITH THE CBDS?
The CDBS covers eligible children for:
Scale and Cleans
Fillings and Preventative seals
ARE ANY DENTAL SERVICES EXCLUDED FROM THE CDBS?
The CDBS will not cover any orthodontic treatment, cosmetic treatment and any dental treatment that is provided in a hospital setting. Your dentist will let you know if any advised treatment will not be covered by the CDBS.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE CDBS?
Eligibility guidelines are listed on the Australian Department of Human Services website, and are as follows:
To be eligible for the CDBS, you must:
be aged 2 to 17 years for at least 1 day of the calendar year
be eligible for Medicare on the day of service
get, or be part of a family getting, certain Australian Government payments
Eligibility is assessed at the beginning of each calendar year and it’s valid for the entire year. Children who become eligible later in the calendar year will have their eligibility backdated to begin from 1 January of that calendar year.
